Kodomo no Omocha (Kodocha: Sana’s Stage)

It’s been a while since I’ve read a really good shoujo manga like this one, written by Obana Miho. The unusual thing is that it’s a romance manga but the main characters are all children (middle school ones, not in high school like you can come across most of the time).

The story is all about Kurata Sana, a child actress, and her life. She is an amazing child, very down to earth, bright and full of energy. She deals with problems in her own way, doesn’t let to be pushed and doesn’t follow the crowd, especially if she thinks that something isn’t right. That’s how she got into conflict with her classmate Hayama Akito. No one actually tried to understand Hayama. The girls in his class were afraid of him and the boys were following him because they thought he’s cool. Sana was the only one that showed real interest in what’s going on with him (although he found it extremely meddlesome in the beginning) and made his life and his family’s life better. He seems pretty cold and scary but that’s just on the facade.

He has other sides too…

Another character that is really interesting is Sana’s mother. She is an eccentric novelist, she drives on the car inside the house and has always something on top of her head, where her squirrel Maro-chan lives. Seeing every time something different on top of her head is really hilarious šŸ™‚ But what I really liked was her relationship with Sana, the good advice she has for her, how patient is she with her and the way she treats her (not as a child but she also understands that she isn’t an adult too). This is one of the rare moments when her mother looked “normal”:

What happened when Sana got kissed by Hayama, was just hilarious!Ā  šŸ™‚

I am sure you will enjoy this manga. It is really dynamic and a lot of things happen. Just Sana and Hayato will have a lot of hardships, until they finally reach towards their goals. The moment when Sana breaks down and you see that she isn’t a superhuman but just a little girl is really touchy.

It is hard not to put a lot of more pictures, since there are so many nice moments in this manga. But these are the last ones šŸ™‚

The only down part for me was that I was hopping to see what happens more in the future, when they grow up more. Ahh…well, it can’t be perfect!
